Hey guys! For those of you in the LA area, there's an awesome art show coming up this weekend at Meltdown comics called,
LA Myth 2009. Curated by Dee Chavez and Aaron Clark, it's got a ton of great artists to eyeball. Check out the
website for further details.
Here's my contribution,"Smog City"......14X11.....Digital.
Some behind the scenes........super crappy post-it note sketches.
And the ruff color sketch in photoshop:
Thanks and hope to see you there!!

awesome!- I really dig it! :D look forward to seeing it in person saturday night!!
Love the smog cloud (of course), but the rollercoaster-ish city is the best part. Something about the stronger shadow on the city in the sketch is working nicely. Though I can see how it was muddying up some of the fun details. Thanks for sharing your process!
I think you're right, Bob. That strong shadow seems to help draw the eye up. Gives it more weight.
I may have to go back make some fixes.
Hot damn, Steve. This is so good! I concur with Bob's opinion... but either way, this rocks.
With all this amazing new work, are there any book plans in the near future?
Dude, this is great!!!
I love that you made LA into n island. Is this a LOST reference?
Great illustration and sketch! I'm far from LA zone but pollution is a great problem also here, in PO Valley...
Awesome! Love your smog and your colors.
Great job! The message is clear! I liked the texture and where you apply, for give volume to the smoke!

Super fun idea + nice drawing x great colors = Pure Steve-O design awesomeness!!! Love it dude. Good luck at the show!
Spectacular illustration Steve, the design of the smug is hilarious, I love the rollercoaster roads, there is foreboding look to the smug, your painting style is top class.
