Whoohoo! The Annie nominations were announced earlier this week and El Tigre picked up four:
Best Animated Television Production Produced for Children
El Tigre
Character Animation in a Television Production
Monica Kennedy – El Tigre
Character Design in an Animated Television Production
Jorge Gutierrez – El Tigre "Fistfull of Collars"
Music in an Animated Television Production
Shawn Patterson – El Tigre "Yellow Pantera"
Huge congrats to everyone on the nominations and hopefully we'll sweep it at the show this year!!
As an additional note, I wanted to mention this year's big upset......the lack of production design in an animated television production nominees. In fact....there were none!
To say there there were absolutely NO shows this year that had art direction above average is a pretty harsh statement. My condolences to all those that submitted some really high quality work and got passed over. Hopefully next year's judging results will be a little more reasonable.

congrats man! Nice to know theres some appreciation for all that had work you guys put in. Plus the fact that its a flash show is even more amazing, looks like regardless the medium, the work speaks for itself.
Big congrats! These nominations are well deserved indeed. It seems that companies have a tendency to ditch their good shows right before those shows go on to win major industry awards. What up with that?
Congrats bro!! These nominations are big recognizement for this great project.. And we wanna more! we wanna more! we wanna more! :)

Congratulations Steve, to you and your co-workers!- it's a great looking show-- and most importantly,
it's one that my kids and I love. We were sorry to hear it cancelled.
Looking forward to what you'll do next. I know it'll be great.
YEah good show, well deserved accolades. I thought the Production Design snub was weird.
Hey Steve,
Great to meet you as well! To bad we were at opposite ends of the table. It's always a shame when a good show doesn't run it's full coarse. I wonder if there was a bigger marketing push if good shows like El Tigre would find a bigger audience? Oh -well it's nice to see the recognition it deserves with the nominations.
hell yeah!! woot woot El Tigre kicked ass!! and still does, congrats to you and the crew, you guys did an amazing, inspiring job, especially to kids especially chicanitos like my self.
Congrats man, the nominations are well deserved!! Butthats totally wack about the production design!! What a joke!!! You guys would be hands down winners in my books!!
OMG - I've been looking for the artist who worked on El Tigre for like ever!! Nickelodeon came to San Jose State last year, and we got a brief glimpse of the show before it was released on TV - and by far, this was the best one of the lot!!!! Really nice blog too, definitely bookmarking this one.
Pretty sweet! Congrats!!
Congrats my brotha!
Hey there!! Merry xmas to you and Sue, hope you guys have a good one!
Luff fom N.Z (and me and alex)
We got ripped. No doubt. One of the greatest art teams ever assembled ... like the Justice League of Animation ... but without those creepy Wonder Twins ... and no nomination! Awesome work anyways ... you don't need no hardware for validation.
