Ricky Gervais Show Premiere

Set your tivos, folks! I just got an email reminder from a friend that the Ricky Gervais show is premiering tomorrow night on HBO. It's from the folks at Wild Brain Animation in LA, animated by many of the superstars from the Foster's crew, and directed by none other than the super talented, Craig Kellman.

I don't know how it happened but I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to do some freelance design on the show. Here's a few characters from the first episode. Nothing that interesting, but hopefully as the episodes air, I'll be able to post up some of the funnier stuff.

*Ricky isn't mine btw...just a re-dress*

So hope you guys tune in and check it out. Who knows...if enough of you do, it might even lead to a second season ;)

Cheers!!

*Update* I guess the first episode is available to watch on the website. Only for americans though...canadians are too busy kicking ass in the Olympics.

I like your designs...im not too keen on the Steve design (i know you didnt do him) and he is my favourite from the trio on the radio.

This has been done for so long by other people who do it better.

Spill.com for example. Ricky is going to get the credit for being so innovative because he is well known but he did not do this first or best.

Thx, dudes!

Anonymous: I don't think anyone's claiming the format as being completely original. Shorty's Making Shorties did a very similar show a few years ago. Aardman did Creature comforts. In another few years, I'm sure someone else will take a crack at it again.

I'm curious as to what you're seeing on Spill.com that you would consider superior entertainment. Do you have a link?

IF they are the recordings I think they are...they are really old as my boyfriend was listening to them ages ago, as in two years ago...and the radio recordings are old as. Its just being revamped with animation added over the top...so its not really a copy of anything or anything new...its just a funny show...wish I could catch a glimpse but not available for Aussies.
